Parking and Directions

Info and advice from Chapel Hill locals.

We know parking in Chapel Hill can be a challenge, especially if you’re not familiar with town and university parking regulations. Below, you’ll find information and local tips to help make finding parking as seamless as possible. As always, we encourage you to arrive early to allow plenty of time to find a parking spot before the event begins!

Parking

CPA events are presented in three venues on UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus: Memorial Hall, Moeser Auditorium at Hill Hall, and CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio. See below to find the parking options available for each location. Please note that some 21/22 season events are virtual.

Pay Lots

Attending an event at CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio? Skip to Town Lots.

New in the 21/22 season, reserved public parking for CPA events in Memorial Hall and Moeser Auditorium in Hill Hall is available beginning at 5:30 PM in the lots listed below:

Parking in these lots costs $5 plus service fees through the ParkMobile app, website, or phone number. If you have a smartphone, we highly recommend the app experience. We also recommend reserving a parking spot in these lots in advance of your arrival. When you arrive, simply show your ParkMobile permit (QR code) to the lot monitor for entry.

If you choose not to reserve a spot in advance, parking spots may run out. If there are still spots available, you may pay by credit card upon arrival. Cash payments are not accepted.

Accessible parking is available in all pay lots for anyone with an official accessible parking hangtag/permit or license plate. If you do not have an official accessible parking permit but require accessible parking for a CPA event, please contact us in advance.

Weeknight University Parking

Does your event fall on a Monday–Thursday evening? Not afraid of a short (5–10 minute) walk through campus? You can use the university’s weeknight parking permit program to park for $1 through the ParkMobile app, website, or phone number on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: these permits are available to all UNC visitors and cannot be reserved in advance. Availability changes when UNC athletics hosts an event, and is particularly limited on football or basketball game days.

Our weeknight recommendation: Cobb parking deck

For a lot with abundant parking and few special event closures, we recommend Cobb Parking Deck off of Paul Green Dr. To get to Memorial Hall, it’s an 8-minute, mostly flat walk on brick- and cement-paved sidewalks. Exit the parking deck and walk west towards Joyner residence hall before crossing Raleigh Road. Make your way past Davis Library and continue west past Lenoir dining hall until you reach the main quad. Walk north toward the flag pole and South Building. When looking at South Building, Memorial Hall will be on your left, directly behind the Campus Y (a small, pink building).

A full list of qualifying lots, all of which will be marked with the ParkMobile location code 4500, can be found on UNC’s website.

Weekend University Parking

Does your event fall on a Friday–Sunday evening or Saturday–Sunday matinee? Campus parking in non-reserved spots is free and open to the public during these times.

Please note: these permits are available to all UNC visitors and cannot be reserved in advance. Availability changes when UNC athletics hosts an event, and is particularly limited on football or basketball game days.

Town Lots

Need more options? The Town of Chapel Hill has its own pay-by-the-hour parking lots to choose from. For events at CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio, parking at Carolina Square is convenient, but can be expensive. The first 45 minutes are free. The next 45 minutes cost $2. Every hour after that costs an additional $5 per hour.

A more affordable option is the Rosemary Lot off of Rosemary St., below Spicy 9 and Summit Coffee.

A full list of Town of Chapel Hill parking lots can be found on their website. Parking in Town lots is always free on Sundays and observed national holidays. Town lots are also free on Saturdays in July and December.

CPA Donor Lots

Thank you for your generous support of Carolina Performing Arts. We’re pleased to offer reserved parking for donors in our Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and DLS tiers for events in Memorial Hall and Moeser Auditorium in Hill Hall.

New in the 21/22 season at CPA, all donors with reserved parking will be provided with lot-specific permits, which will be scanned upon entry by the parking lot attendant. Parking in these lots is available beginning at 5:30 PM on the night of the event.

Please note: reserved donor parking is not provided for events at CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio.
