Cure for Paranoia
Cure for Paranoia is the kind of group that makes you turn to the person next to you and say, “How did I not know about them?!” The Dallas collective hits the stage with hip-hop, soul, jazz, and funk into what they call “a cure for the ordinary”: socially conscious anthems, feel-good energy, and a reminder that you’re not alone in the struggle.
That energy carries real emotional weight. Cameron McCloud raps with startling honesty about mental health and healing, landing a line that stops you cold and then pulling the whole room back into motion before you’ve fully recovered. The music feels good. The words hit hard.
More than 6,000 entries were submitted to NPR Music’s 2026 Tiny Desk Contest. Cure for Paranoia won with “No Brainer,” earning a spot behind the famous desk and a national tour. This is exactly when you want to see a group: after the breakthrough, while “I saw them when” still feels like uncovering a best-kept secret.

Before heading inside Memorial Hall, stop just outside for the NC Hip Hop Cypher, an Open Gathering where artists and festivalgoers celebrate the culture and art forms of Hip Hop, then carry that energy into Cure for Paranoia and see where the night leads next.

Taking place February 19–21, 2027, All. Together. Now. is a new multi-day arts festival presented by Carolina Performing Arts and unfolding across Carolina’s campus and downtown Chapel Hill. Across three days of performances, conversations, and creative experiences, the festival brings artists, ideas, art forms, and people into conversation. Each year, a central idea will connect its wide-ranging experiences. The inaugural focus, Love & Hope, considers how we care for one another, build connection amid uncertainty, and imagine futures that do not yet exist.
