Venue Rental Information

Thank you for your interest in reserving a Carolina Performing Arts venue. Please see below for information about available dates and how to reserve a space.

Please note: All CPA venues are fully reserved through Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

Rental Requests

Requests to reserve Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, and CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio for events from February 2–June 30, 2022, will be accepted beginning on Friday, October 1, 2021, by email to Mark Steffen at msteffen@email.unc.edu. In your email request, please include:

  1. Your name (first and last)
  2. Requested venue (Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, or CURRENT)
  3. Preferred date
  4. Alternate date(s)
  5. Event start time
  6. Event name
  7. Short event description
  8. Name of organization presenting the event
  9. If you are a UNC student group, the name of you advisor (if applicable)
  10. Is the event ticketed or general admission?
  11. Will you charge for admission?
  12. Your phone number
  13. Your preferred email address

Requests received at any point on October 1, 2021, will receive an equal preference for dates and will be the first batch of requests considered for booking. All requests received after October 1, 2021, will be considered in the order in which they are received.

Our goal when considering requests and booking events is to maximize the total number of events in our venues. To increase your chances of securing a date, please submit your request on October 1, 2021, and include both preferred and alternate date options.

We also encourage you to email Mark Steffen before you submit your request to discuss the availability of your desired dates, as CPA events are scheduled prior to accepting requests from other users. It is possible that both your preferred and alternate dates may not be available.

All events must be scheduled at least forty-five days in advance. Due to high demand, groups will be allowed a maximum of one Friday or Saturday use of Memorial Hall per semester.

General Information About Rental Events

Please note that changing circumstances related to COVID-19 may affect the availability of spaces. All reservations will be contingent upon safe conditions, University policies, and government regulations.

In general, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill organizations have first priority for the use of venues managed by CPA. If your event will not be fully sponsored and directly paid for by a UNC Department or officially-recognized UNC student organization in good standing (or if you are unsure if your event qualifies as a University event), please read our Policies for University and Non-University Venue Users.
