Composer and pianist Aaron Diehl has recently performed as a featured soloist with the New York Philharmonic and the Cleveland Orchestra. With a style grounded in the spirit of forebears Ahmad Jamal, Erroll Garner, and Jelly Roll Morton, Diehl is focused on an ongoing curation of programming by Black American composers. Chinese-American pianist Clara Yang is an associate professor of piano and head of keyboard studies at UNC-Chapel Hill. An international performer, she has appeared on the CPA season multiple times, most recently with opera singer Lucia Lucas in February 2020.
